We have several very cute, soft, fluffy and gentle bunnies at the farm. We’ve had bunnies since 2019. They are the most popular animals among children, especially toddlers. They are quite adorable when they munch on carrots or lettuce; their little noses moving up and down as they eat! Or when they move their long ears or they stand on their hind legs!
What do they eat?
In the summer, our bunnies’ favourite foods are greens like weeds (especially dandelions!), grasses, and clovers. They also love sunchoke leaves, cabbage, lettuce, broccoli and carrots from our garden. During winter we feed them hay, special pellets and a variety of fruits and veggies.
Where do they stay?
In the summer, the bunnies stay outside, in our mobile chicken coops much like our young chickens. In the winter, we relocate them to the designated area in the duck barn, where they can stay warm and safe.
What is their behavior like?
This depends on the bunny. Some of them, like Tux and Daisy, are very social, and love getting pets all the time! They're not even afraid of our dog, Ava. Others, like Hazel or Chocolate, are more shy, and prefer to hide in a corner. Certain bunnies like Peaches, are very active and fast, zipping around all the time, while rabbits like our big boy Hugo, are slow & lazy. In general, bunnies are very docile and social!
