Job Title: Mobile Farm Facilitator (March-September, 3-4 days a week) 


Role overview:

We are seeking to fill a seasonal (March to September) part-time (3-4 days a week) position of Mobile Farm Facilitator who will be responsible for facilitating some of our mobile farms. The ideal candidate should be bilingual, comfortable with animals, being outdoors, enjoy working with people (especially young children), comfortable driving a vehicle with a trailer, and available 3-4 days per week on either weekends or weekdays (or both). Physical strength and agility is required (e.g. for lifting the animal coop and animals, connecting the trailer, and manoeuvring the animals). Potential for additional hours on weekends during the summer season (May-September) to work as a farm tour guide. Ideal for a recent graduate, someone looking for a part-time paid hobby, or as a gap year. 


What is a mobile farm:

Mobile farms are an opportunity for participants to interact with farm animals from the comfort of their home, office, daycare, school or during an event at their city. We bring bunnies, chickens, ducks, goats, alpacas and sheep to anywhere in the Greater Montreal area at all times of the year. Mobile farms can take place indoors or outdoors. During a mobile farm, participants get to pet, feed and sometimes hold the animals. Participants of mobile farms are of all ages. 


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating feeding, petting and holding of the animals

  • Ensure the safety of participants, animals, and equipment

  • Load and unload animals to/from the trailer at the farm and to/from various locations

  • Drive the mobile farm to different locations around Greater Montreal

  • Set up and take down of the mobile farm at the event location


Requirements:

  • Bilingual (speaking and understanding)

  • Must be responsive to messages (we communicate heavily on Messenger in English)

  • Comfortable with farm animals (especially with bunnies, chickens, ducks, and goats)

  • Available on weekends and/or weekdays (work will depend on bookings and other staff availability; we are quite flexible)

  • Driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Comfortable with driving and parking a car with a trailer (we train)

  • Social, friendly, engaging, and energetic person 

  • Comfortable working with all age groups, especially kids under 5

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to lift farm equipment (e.g. coops, fence, and trailer when connecting)
